Some
flooring manufacturers may suggest that using other than
their own brand of underlayment pad will void their warranty.
This would be like a car manufacturer telling you that your
car warranty is void if you buy different tires. This practice
is known as "tying" which is the same issue that
caused the Justice Department to win a consent decree from
Microsoft in 1995.
The compression resistance and density of our radiant floor
heat underlayment pads will meet or exceed the requirements
of virtually every laminate or engineered floor manufacturer.
If flooring manufacturers do not specifically exclude installation
with radiant floor heating, they have no good reason
or legal basis for voiding their warranty.
If the flooring manufacturer specifies a maximum temperature
limitation in their written warranty, simply set your thermostat
maximum temperature function not to exceed this limit.
If
you encounter this issue, let us know the company and provide
a copy of the written warranty. Email
